SCT dyno tuning

If anyone is interested in getting some dyno tuning done then let me know. I have a friend who has talked to David at Polk Performance and he is willing to buy the SCT dyno tuning software if he can get 10 people to buy it for him. That would be around $350 person and those 10 would get free dyno tuning after that for upgrades to their car(not minor tuning adjustments every week or anything like that). He in turn of course would make money off of other folks getting dyno tunes(which typically go for $350 themself).

I think this is a heck of a deal and I believe there are already about 6 guys lined up wanting to get in on this so let me know asap if you're interested. Either call me - (501)442-3081 or email me - brianwharris@gmail.com

Brian,
I would give this business to James Heath (213-8150). He has a dyno and knows Mustangs--he owns a GT500 with a blower upgrade that dynos above 700 RWHP. He drag races it too--I know Ricky has seen him light that car down the strip, burning his tires the whole way.

He has done some work for me, and dyno tested my Cobra R.

Thanks for that. I'll try to give him a call tomorrow. I did not think there were any authorized SCT dealers in the state. I was about to go to memphis at dynospeed racing to get mine tuned after some winter upgrades until I heard about Polk.

I called James and he does not do SCT dyno tuning. I have to use someone who has the SCT software since that is what my tuner is.

Not going to try and give the wrong idea here...but why would you take a mustang to a import tuner? If you want him to learn on your car...by all means be my guest. But I wouldnt! I cant afford a bad tune and blown motor beacuse of it.

It would not be only him learning. I would want to know each and every parameter that gets changed so in effect we all would benefit by learning more about our cars. Also when you buy the software you get full support from SCT so anything in question, we'll be calling them.

I know he does alot of imports but that is not all he does. I'm not totally stupid about how to tune the thing either. It sure beats hauling the car to Memphis everytime I do an upgrade to my car to another guy that I don't know much about. No one around here does SCT dyno tuning. I won't be staying stock much longer.

RE: SCT dyno tuning

I talked to a guy this past weekend at Big Cruise Fest from Cabot that has a mobile chassis dyno. His name is Brian Huffman, 501-658-6707. Its a Mustang Dyno and he has a 95 Mustang he plays with. They travel with the dyno, but he does do club events, or "dyno day" for clubs. I told him I have a Deoblosport and he did tell me he wasn't familiar with them. But I cannot remember what tune he is familiar with.

RE: SCT dyno tuning

I have a sct tuner...and there Tech support sucks. The only good thing is the datalogging option.

Most of the tuners...RWTD, Amazon, PSI. Its a one time fee you pay for life time tunes. If you change anything you just send them a e-mail with the change and a data log and they will e-mail you a new tune. Amazon is 175 I think.

RE: SCT dyno tuning

Also is Polk going to be buringing chips? If not you have to by the SCT X3 tuner wich is @350 each.

I have done the friend of a friend tuning thing. Resulted in blown block and me being out the money for a new Lightning long block. tuner said.." well...those things happen....have a nice day."

RE: SCT dyno tuning

I already have the SCT Livewire which is why I need someone with the SCT software so they can create a tune for my Livewire. The Livewire hooks directly to the OBDII port just like the X3. I use emailed tunes from online up to a certain extent(change in fuel octane, minor adjustment, etc), but I would not use a tune emailed to me for swapping cams, headers, etc. IMHO that is a bigger risk than having a good dyno tune done.

SCT support sucks for you, because you only bought a tuner. If you spent $3000 for the dyno tuning software and were tuning people's cars with it, I'm sure the support would be much better. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

There is always risk in doing any mod to your car. The key is to keep the cost down so if something major does happen then you're not out as much. Plus learning your car more and making friends along the way helps too. Anyways, it would give me a reason to stick a crate motor in there if it blew Smile
